Privacy Policy

Last updated: 26 April 2026

This policy explains what personal data ReClip collects, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights under the UK GDPR, EU GDPR, CCPA (California), and PIPEDA (Canada).

1. Who we are

ReClip is an independent service available at reclip.online. For the purposes of data protection law, ReClip is the data controller of your personal data. To contact us about privacy matters, use the in-app support channel or the email shown in your account settings.

2. What data we collect

Account data

Name, email address, and (if you sign in via Google) your Google profile ID. We store a hashed password if you use email/password sign-in.

Content you upload

Videos, audio files, or URLs you submit for processing. Transcripts, clip metadata, captions, and blog drafts generated from your content are stored and associated with your account.

Usage data

Pages visited, features used, processing job status, and error events. This helps us diagnose problems and improve the service.

Billing data

If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is handled by Stripe. ReClip does not store your card number. We receive a customer ID and subscription status from Stripe.

3. Why we collect it (legal basis)

  • Contract performance — to provide the service you signed up for: processing your videos, generating clips, and storing your projects.
  • Legitimate interests — to monitor for errors, prevent abuse, and improve the product. We balance this against your rights.
  • Consent — for optional marketing emails. You can withdraw consent at any time from your account settings.
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to retain records for compliance purposes.

4. Third-party processors

ReClip uses the following sub-processors, each covered by appropriate data processing agreements.

When data is transferred outside the UK/EEA we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions as the transfer mechanism.

5. How long we keep your data

  • Account data — retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
  • Videos and clips — retained until you delete the project or close your account.
  • Usage logs — retained for up to 12 months then anonymised.
  • Billing records — retained for 7 years to meet financial record-keeping obligations.

6. Your rights

Under UK/EU GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — correct inaccurate data via your account settings.
  • Erasure — request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Restrict — ask us to limit processing while a dispute is resolved.
  • Withdraw consent — for any processing based on consent (e.g. marketing emails).

To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the in-app support channel. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK ICO (ico.org.uk) or your national supervisory authority.

7. Cookies

ReClip uses only essential cookies required for authentication (session token) and security (CSRF protection). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. No cookie consent banner is shown because no non-essential cookies are set.

8. Children

ReClip is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have done so, contact us immediately and we will delete it.

9. US residents — California (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you additional rights over your personal information.

  • Know — request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
  • Delete — request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Opt out of sale — ReClip does not sell your personal information to third parties.
  • Non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising any CCPA right.

To exercise these rights, contact us via the in-app support channel. We will respond within 45 days as required by CCPA.

10. Canadian residents — PIPEDA

If you are a Canadian resident, Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) applies. You have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of your personal information. You may also withdraw consent to the collection and use of your data at any time (subject to legal or contractual restrictions). To exercise these rights, contact us via the in-app support channel.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
